Baby Shower Ideas?
Hello i am throwing a surprise baby shower for my aunt whos having a baby boy. This is my first time throwing a shower & I need some help. So far ive only got one idea & thats baby shower bingo instead of numbers its words relating to the mother & baby. If you have any suggestions i would really appreciate it. 10 points to the most creative, unique & fun answers!
Im on a tight budget so anything that isnt expensive would be great. Oh & its less than 2 weeks away so nothing really complicated would be good aswell!
here are some great games below…hope i helped
Don’t Cry Mommy!
Object of the game: To acquire as many pins from other guests and win the doorprize.
How to play: Each guest is handed a diaper or clothes pin when they arrive. Have each guest listen for others to say the mommy’s name. The guest who catches another saying the mommy’s name is allowed to take the pin (or as many pins as she is wearing) away from the person who said the mommy’s name.
Avoid pin holes in your clothes by wearing our cute translucent pacifiers with quality satin string – available now at BabyBingo.com – you can specify the colors (blue, pink, or white string — blue, pink, yellow or clear plastic pacifiers — or an assortment of all colors!)
Bubblegum Baby
Give each guest a piece of gum and have them chew it but don’t tell them what it’s for. After about 5 minutes you tell them to take out their gum and form a baby with it. After they are done creating their baby, place it on a paper plate and wirte the name of the creator of the gum baby. The mommy then picks the one she likes the best. -Submitted by Isela Bonada-Stanik, Los Angeles, CA.
Idea! Baby Stir Sticks
Glue tiny plastic babies onto stir sticks for a great shower accessory! (Can also be used as a topper on brownies; just be sure your guests don’t eat the babies!) Tiny babies available at babybingo.com -Submitted by Marie Santelices
Who’s That Beautiful Baby?
When mailing the invitations, enclose a request to have each guest bring their baby picture to the party. At the beginning of the party, you slip into another room and put each photo into a ziplock baggie with a number showing on the back. Bring out the photos on a bulletin board tacked up using the edges of the baggie and have each guest guess who belongs to which picture. It’s so much fun! The one who guesses the most wins. It’s a nice ice breaker – so do this game early on. Download pdf now, compliments of BabyBingo.com.
Pin the Pacifier on the Baby!
(A new twist to “pin the tail on the donkey.”) Find a baby picture, hopefully one crawling, and blow up to poster size (at least 11 x 17) and print one copy. Find an image of a pacifier and xerox it onto some paper or card stock. Blindfold your guests one at a time, twirl them around and point them in the general direction of the wall where the baby poster is pinned on. The second their hand touches the wall, they must pin the pacifier at that spot. It’s hilarious! Take a picture after and send it to us! We’d love to share it with others on our website! If you’d like to save some hunting around, order our “Pin the Pacifier” Game from BabyBingo.com.
Don’t Cross Your Legs!
Upon arrival give your guests a clothespin to pin to themselves. Throughout the course of the shower anyone who sees someone crossing thier legs/feet gets to take that person’s clothespin. At the end of the shower the person who has the most clothespins wins! -Submitted by Lori Reyna, email.
New Twist to “Don’t cross your legs!” Instead of clothespins, make binkies. Glue one lifesaver, onto the top of another lifesaver/crisscross. Then on the bottom, glue a jelly bean. Loop a cord though the top life saver…and you have a binkie. Grab someone’s binkie if they cross their legs. -Submitted by Robin Jacks, Yosemite
Another Twist to this game is to wear necklaces with pacifiers tied to it. Purchase the translucent plastic pacifiers and coordinating colored soft satin string from BabyBingo.com – you can specify the colors (blue, pink, or white string — blue, pink, yellow or clear plastic pacifiers — or an assortment of all colors!)
ABC Word Game – Give each guest a piece of paper and a pencil. On each piece of paper is a vertical list of the alphabet. Set the timer or clock for one minute. The object of the game is to come up with one baby-related word for each letter before the timer goes off. The person with the most creative baby-related words wins. Available free as our gift to thank you for visiting our website! Please let others know we want to help make showers fun and exciting! Download pdf now, compliments of BabyBingo.com.
Poopy Diapers!
You really have to have a sense of humor on this one. Take 3 to 5 candy bars and place one in each cloth diaper. Microwave each diaper for 30 seconds – or until the candy bar has melted. Have each guest take turns sniffing the diapers and guess what candy bar is inside. It’s hilarious watching everyone sniff — makes for an interesting game.
Poopy Diapers-Variation 1
Before the shower, make diapers out of regular napkins. On one of the napkins, add a stain of mustard on the inside. Place several mints inside each “diaper” napkin. After each guest has finished their mints, a small gift is given to the winner who has the diaper with the poopy stain inside. -Submitted by Teresa Cruz, New Mexico
Guess Mommy’s Waist Size
Ah yes, this one is fun! Have each guest cut off a piece of string that they think would match the size of mommy’s tummy. After every guest has a piece of string the length they desire, have each take their turn placing it around the tummy of mommy. This can be hilarious as some guests’ strings will be far too long and others wouldn’t make it around the corner! The guest who comes closest to the tummy size wins. Rule: No guests can put the string around themselves or each other to make a guess.
An alternate to string would be to hand your guests toilet paper instead. -Alternate version submitted by Lulu, California
My Water Broke!
A day or two ahead of the party, place in the freezer small or medium sized plastic babies inside plastic cups filled with water. Have one cup for each guest. In the beginning of the party, give everyone a cup with their baby frozen in the ice. Guests are not allowed to touch the cube with their fingers, but are allowed to hold the glass. At some point during the party, the ice will melt and their baby will become freed – thus, their “water will have broke”… The first one whose water breaks is the winner. (You may freeze the tiny babies in an ice cube tray and place the ice cube in a cup if you prefer.)
Purchase tiny or medium sized plastic babies from BabyBingo.com and all you need to supply are the cups and water. CAN’T FIND CUTER TINY BABIES ANYWHERE ONLINE OTHER THAN HERE!
Baby Bag!!
Purchase 2 of each of some common baby products, such as a rattle, diaper, pacifier, etc. and place each set in a separate bag. Pass the bag among your guests and give each 20 seconds to feel the items. Have them write down as many items as they can identify as soon as they pass the bag onto the next guest. The person who guesses the most items correctly wins! After the game is over, the mother-to-be will have those items in the bags!
Draw the Baby
Each shower guests gets a piece of paper placed on top of a card stock or paper plate. They put it on top of their head and they get 3-5 minutes to draw a baby. The winner is determined by the mom-to-be! -Submitted by Jennifer Sheeks
Don’t say “Baby”
When the guests arrive, give each a clothespin to wear. Tell each guest that they can’t say the word “BABY”. If a guest catches someone saying “BABY”, they may take the clothespin away from them. If, for example, a guest has 3 pins from previously taking them away from others and somone catches her saying “BABY” then that guest now gets to take all 3 of her pins. The person with the most clothespins at the end of the shower wins the game. -SUBMITTED BY Kelly Walker, Pennsylvania
Another Twist to this game is to wear necklaces with pacifiers tied to it. Purchase the translucent plastic pacifiers and coordinating colored soft satin string from BabyBingo.com – you can specify the colors (blue, pink, yellow (new!) or white string — blue, pink, yellow or clear plastic pacifiers — or an assortment of all colors!)
Idea! Pacifier Napkin Rings
Use large pacifiers as napkin rings to decorate your placesetting. Available at BabyBingo.com -Submitted by Marie Santelices
Baby Scramble
Write down some common pregnancy terms and scramble them up. Example: ipaerd (diaper). Copy the list for as many guests that will be at the shower. The guest who unscrambles the most words correctly wins! Baby Word Scramble is available from BabyBingo.com
Name that Jar!
Peel the label off 7 to 10 different baby food jars and on the bottom write a number corresponding to the contents in the jar. Place the baby food jars on a tray and have each guest guess without tasting the food what the contents of each jar contain. They may sniff but they can not taste! The winner is the one who has guessed the most correct.
The Name Game – Have guests create a first and middle name for the unborn. Ask them to write their selected names down on a piece of paper. After each person has completed this, explain that they are to create words made up of letters in their chosen names. Use a timer and have the guests write down as many words as they can think of. When the time is up, your guests total up the number of words they have created and the one who has the most words wins. Example: Katherine Allison = hat, no, son, liason, heart, late, halt, salt, rate, etc.
Who am I?
A perfect way to start a shower. Prepare ahead of time by writing the name of a famous baby or famous parents on a 3×5 index card or piece of paper. (Example: Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, or Charles Lindbergh, etc.) As each guest arrives pin one of the “tags” on her back without her knowing the “secret identity”. The task is for the guest to find out who she is by asking others questions which can only be answered with a yes or no. This is a great way for guests to get mingling right away so they can learn who they are. First on
